When is it time for braces?
Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common age for orthodontic treatment. On average, by around 12 years, most if not all of the permanent teeth have erupted. Many children in this age range undergo orthodontic treatment with their friends so it is more socially accepted. Also, adolescents and teens are more aware at this age of crooked teeth, gaps, and bad bites because their appearance is so important. These problems rarely correct themselves on their own and prompt most parents to seek recommendations for orthodontic treatment.
